The scholarship will be awarded to one Ketchikan resident each year. Qualified applicants for this scholarship will demonstrate motivation, academic and employment potential in the academic area the student is pursuing; be either a degree or non-degree seeking student; be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 grade point average; and be a full-time or part-time student. Preference will be given to students pursuing their degree at the University of Alaska Southeast Ketchikan campus. Students pursuing degrees not available in Ketchikan through the UA system will also be considered. Preference will also be given to students who have completed a semester of college level work and can demonstrate hard work and motivation toward higher education. The grade point average, by itself, will not be the key determinate in awarding the scholarship. Demonstration of financial need is also important. Applications are available at UAS Ketchikan main campus as well as on the web at www.ketch.alaska.edu/financialavailable.html. Applications are due to the campus by 5:00pm Monday, December 15. The University of Alaska Southeast
Ketchikan provides a wide variety of educational courses and
programs to Ketchikan and the surrounding communities throughout
the year. Many course offerings are available via both locally
and through distance avenues including web-based, audio conference,
teleconference and satellite offerings. Through these offerings,
students can achieve certifications, associate, bachelor and
master degrees.
