This Veterans Day is particularly significant for those in the Alaska Territorial Guard, who can finally celebrate formal recognition by the federal government of their status as veterans. It is a long overdue honor. Today, more members of the Alaska National Guard face hostile fire than at any time since the end of the Second World War. Their sacrifice, the support of their families and the determined patience of their employers should be lauded. As we pause to celebrate this
Veterans Day holiday with friends and family, I urge you to join
me in offering a prayer of thanks for those who have served and
a prayer of safekeeping for those still in harms way.
