Ketchikan, Alaska - The Ketchikan Community Chorus will be performing "Steppin' Out," at 8:00 p.m. on Friday November 19th at the Ted Ferry Civic Center.  A short, toe-tapping, 1940's era concert, directed by Lallette Kistler, is designed make the audience want to get up and dance.  Popular jazz band, "Lush Life," has been hired to help the audience do just that.  To add to the delight, additional 40's era solos and trios will be sung by various talented chorus members throughout the night, and a no-host bar and snacks will be provided.

If that is not enough entertainment, the audience will gasp as Kistler's long, blonde, sit-upon hair is snipped off before their very eyes.  Set up by the 40's tunes, "I Dream of Jeannie with the Light (Blond) Hair," and "I'm Gonna (Cut) that Man Right Out of My Hair," audience members will be asked to bid for the privilege of hacking off sections of her hair with the scissors.  The chorus is also hoping to market a video for additional fund-raising possibilities.

Extra fund-raising is needed in anticipation of a much larger chorus and orchestra production in March, where Strauss's delightful light opera, "Die Fledermaus (The Bat)," will be performed, in English.  It's beautiful waltzes and twisting comical plot defy time, and should give theatre and music lovers something to look forward to this winter.  Interested singers and musicians should contact Kistler for more information.

"Steppin' Out" will have limited seating, so tickets should be purchased in advance.  Tickets are available at McPherson's Music, Tongass Business Center and the Arts Council. Join the chorus for a fun night out!
