New city sales tax
By Renee Schofield

I believe that there is some room for persons to ask for reconsideration
of the 2nd reading of the new sales tax that the City of Ketchikan
recently passed. It is my understanding that one of the YES votes
must request it. Since Councilmember Harris was out of town on
City business, he could then be included on a reconsideration
vote. This would eliminate the need of a tie-breaker by the Mayor.
I encourage those of you who have questions or would like to
move for reconsideration to contact your council members and/or
your City Mayor. Important stuff. Speak up.
