There used to be several apartment buildings in town that were available by the week or month and were affordable for people with fixed or limited incomes. Most of those have been scooped up in the past few years for use as businesses or housing for workers of businesses. There is a real need for some housing in town that is affordable and tied in with programs that can help people who have trouble with the task of getting settled. The police department does a great job of knowing who is out and around on a regular basis and I'm sure that the library bus stop gets its fair share of attention from them. It is nearly Thanksgiving and I urge all of us to think of our own blessings and to be generous in our thoughts and actions when it come to sharing with those around us who may be on hard times and away from any family to give support.
