On Thursday, November 19th, the Alaska Oyster Cooperative was formed, in Naukati Bay on Prince of Wales Island. A interim-board of directors approved the Articles of Incorporation. The six member board consists of oyster and clam farmers, who plan to operate the local shellfish nursery and a new shellfish processing facility in Naukati. New farmers and those interested in joining the industry are encouraged to contact the Naukati Shellfish Nursery for information.
