Fire destroys Ketchikan home

(SitNews) Ketchikan, Alaska - South Tongass Volunteer Fire Department responded to a home fire at 6591 South Tongass Highway Thursday afternoon, November 03, 2011.
Water from Ketchikan Fire Department's Engine 2’s deck gun spaying water to help fight the fire. The nozzle was putting out approximately 800-900 gallons a minute.

South Tongass Volunteer Fire Department's Fire Chief Scott Davis said initially the fire was located in the garage on the ground floor and quickly spread to the rest of the three stories and the attic overwhelming fire crews.
The entire structure was a total loss said Davis.
The fire department’s investigation has revealed that this fire was accidental in nature most likely caused by resistant heating from electrical equipment said Davis.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
