(SitNews) Juneau, Alaska - The Associated Builders & Contractors of Alaska (ABC) has named Senator Bert Stedman, R-Sitka, as its Legislator of the Year.  The award reflects Senator Stedman’s work to address the state’s infrastructure needs and ensure Alaska contractors have the work needed to keep the state’s economy moving forward.

“I’m honored by ABC’s award and look forward to continue working to develop Alaska’s infrastructure next session,” said Senator Stedman. 

As Co-Chair of the Senate Finance Committee, Senator Stedman has drafted state capital budgets that increase state savings and fund vital public works projects that put Alaskans to work building our state.   “Our efforts have helped ensure Alaska families have the ability to meet their financial needs at a time when the lower 48 has experienced the worst economic slowdown since the Great Depression.”

ABC represents 175 construction companies throughout the state and works to improve the competitiveness of Alaska’s construction industry.
