Party Politics
By James Guenther

The American taxpayer has once again been thrown under the proverbial bus. The unemployed will remain unemployed. The obstructionists have blocked, once again, a bill that is intended to put Americans back to work and to restore our aging infrastructure.

Lisa Murkowski followed strict party lines to defeat the Jobs Bill 49 to 51; insuring that the wealthiest Americans not help bear their rightful responsibilities to invigorate the very infrastructure that enables them to continue to prosper. By placing party politics above our national interest Senate Republicans have sacrificed the Common Good of a nation in a thinly veiled attempt hobble an American president for the single purpose of weakening their perceived opposition in the 2012 elections.

It's time for all Americans to wake up and speak up. Whether you're a Democrat or a Republican, a liberal or a conservative, we are Americans first and foremost. If you are not registered to vote please take the time now to get registered. Contact your representatives and express your opinions.

You can register to vote at the Ketchikan City Clerks Office (228-5658), The Ketchikan Gateway Borough Clerks Office (228-5605), The Legislative Affairs Office (225-9675), or go online to www.elections.alaska.gov
