Voting for Ortiz By Kathy Bolling November 01, 2014
My independent mother raised a batch of independent children, heaven bless her, which often created a clatter around the dinner table. My father was a Republican for all of his days, though he became quite disillusioned by the polarity we are experiencing in our nation. Like my mother, I never choose to join one of the two major political parties because I believe neither of them would represent me well. In our house, we would use “mugwump” on name-calling occasions; a reminder that sometimes party loyalty can be mistaken/confused as a religion in some people’s minds. I vote for candidates who understand and hold the State and Federal Constitutions above party affiliation. I am voting for Dan Ortiz who, by the way, is like a bonus brother to me, and is always welcome at our dinner table. Kathy Bolling
