Dan Ortiz By Lori Ortiz November 01, 2014
Recent attempts to cast a shadow on my husband’s character and intentions are an example of the types of political behaviors that prevent more people from running for office. Misrepresenting the facts regarding Dan’s campaign is characteristic of the kind of politics from which we have all grown so weary. My husband, Dan Ortiz, has chosen to run as an independent because he believes it is the best way to represent all the people of southern Southeast in the state legislature. He maintains the idea that ordinary citizens should be able to attain public office without ties to partisan politics. Furthermore, he has led a positive campaign from start to finish. Dan is running on the merit of the skills he will bring to office. He is a sincere and intelligent listener, a sure and confident speaker - a man woven into the fabric of this community. At a conservative estimate of one hundred twenty-five students per year, he is personally accountable to more than 4,000 local citizens and their families. For this reason, a healthy economy and a sustainable future for SE Alaska are at the heart of all his decisions. I hope that when you cast your vote, you will join us in the belief that politics does not have to be ugly. We all make choices. My husband has chosen to behave with gratitude, with humility, with strength, and with grace. Check out his platforms; see where he stands. On November 4th, cast your vote because we the people have the power to choose to make politics represent a higher ideal. Sincerely, Lori Ortiz
