"Happy Holidays"

What is wrong with Holiday? It seems so many people
are becoming offended simply because someone wishes them a Happy
Holiday. The other day I wished a co-worker a Happy Holiday
and was responded to with a stern MERRY CHRISTMAS. Excuse
me? When was wishing one good cheer an offense?
The word Holiday stands for Holy Day, well unless your British
then it is a vacation. Is Christmas not a Holy Day? Why
is it that I can't wish everyone a Happy Holiday? It really
does not matter to me if you celebrate Christmas, or Hanukkah,
or Kwanza, or whatever. Why am I to simply assume that you celebrate
whatever it is that I do, and if you don't then I am supposed
to be offended? I am simply wishing that one enjoy
the Holy season. A time of love and friendship.
So please let's not make it an offense for someone to simply wish
you good cheer and take it for what it is meant.... A nice
thing to say to one another at this joyous time of year.
Happy Holidays!
~ May you and your loved ones
have a very Happy Holiday Season ~
