Members socialized and held a fund raising auction that raised over $1,000 for the North Tongass Volunteer Fire & EMS Membership Association. Dave Hull, Chief of the department, served as the auctioneer.

According to NTVFD Fire Chief Dave Hull, much has been accomplished by the volunteer members of the North Tongass Volunteer Fire Department this past year. Together they have logged in well over 6,000 hours of training including a Firefighter I and II course, EMT II course, participating in the Alaska Shield/Northern Edge training with the rest of the island departments and military this summer, and many will complete an bridge course in February to become EMTs.

If that isn't enough, work on two fire stations is well underway and soon will find many helping build administrative offices, a training room and living quarters at the new main fire station which will be Station 8 at 13.1 mile North Tongass Highway.
