Ketchikan Community Concert
Band concert

Tuesday AM
THANK YOU to the members of the KCCB [ Ketchikan Community Concert
Band ], and conductor Roy McPherson.
Sunday afternoon at the Kayhi
auditorium "A Winter Patchwork Concert" was a musical
gift to the community at this holiday season.
A geat variety of composition
was performed by a diverse section of Ktn community members:
doctors, lawyers, teachers, dentistis, musicians, secretaries,
moms and dads, a few Kayhi students, probably even a candle stick
maker. The audience was tapping feet, humming tunes, and just
plain relaxing and enjoying.
A tuba solo; a penny whistle solo - who would have thought such
was possible?
The band was joined by the
hand bell choir, directed by Bev Ashworth, for one number - Tidings.
This was a real treat.
And as always, Roy McPherson gave the audience insights about
many of the pieces; encouraging our listening pleasure.
There was a raffle of 2 beautiful hand made quilts; as well 2
door prizes.
A wonderful way to spend an afternoon for young and old, families
and singles.
And the encore - what a beautiful sound came forth as they blended
their voices in song with "The Holly and The Ivy".
This is the season for music and there are yet many more concerts
this month of December for us to enjoy. If you do not have these
on your December to-do list, you will be disapointed. There are
school district concerts, church choirs, and don't forget the
Community Chorus Sing-Along. All these groups will likewise give
exceptional musical sound, a musical gift to one and all.
Our talented artistic community members {with voice, instrument,
dance, writings, drawings/paintings, crafts} do their best to
'gather in' the community, to help us put aside our cares for
even just a brief moment. We come together, enjoy together, and
return to our homes - feeling a little better.
Ketchikan is a great place to live, and where one can enjoy living.
