I as a mother of 5 daughters who play softball, would much rather them play on the gravel fields we have in town than see them fall and seriously hurt themselves on the grass! We all know our climate here and grass fields are not necessarily the answer. Sure, I'm not fond of the gravel either. But I am definitely not a fan of grass fields in our neck of the woods! I would also like to comment about how "people" think soccer is taking over. I've never had one of my children play soccer, yet....This has not been by my choice but their own. I have nothing negative to say about it. There are fanatics in every sports event though. Yes, basketball seems to be KING still. I don't think people pull their children away from certain sports just because they are "upset" about funding or someone running the show. I think our children will let us know what they enjoy doing and not. Maybe this particular age group of kids likes soccer better than KDL, little league and football. You know, trends and waves.... I've noticed 3 soccer seasons, baseball little league, KDL and even football mentioned by others. If you think you have a hard time funding those sports, try SOFTBALL!!! Which by the way is growing each year! Thank you to all the coaches and behind the scenes volunteers who make it possible for any sports to exist in this town! We also have some very generous businesses in our community who are always willing to help "ANY" sport they can. Rebecca Clark About: " Mom of many sports playing kids!"
