Ward Cove again!

Editor-Sitnews,

It is not my intent to be a fault finder, however, December 3'd has come and passed. Hopen and Associates have missed the extended deadline for earnest money payment.

Mary Lynne Dahl has nailed it once more and again!!

Not that she would take the position, she should be asked to become both the director of the Planning department AND economic development.

The current staff leadership of these two departments, in my opinion, are not serving this community well.

We have had two botched efforts regarding Ward Cove. Both when reviewed in retrospect, were economic disaster plans at best.

Any future efforts should be based on sound economic rules. If the private funding organizations or self financed investors, with due diligence completed are not able to address contract closings it would be prudent the Borough stay away from fiscal involvement. Tax incentives, Planning department cooperation,Land program, and intergovernmental support, to name a few positives the Borough can involve itself with, fine, fiscal, involvement not a good idea.

In my opinion, Mary in the past, has presented suggestions regarding development that are far more valid than these two efforts.

There should at the very least, be a competency staff review with recommendations by the Borough Manager on both the lead Planning Department and that of the Economic Development position. Anything less reflects on the Borough Assembly's competence with taxpayer's money.

Just saying,

A. M. Johnson
