By Lisa Scarborough

Monday PM

The Ketchikan Wellness Coalition (KWC) is currently surveying our community to reassess the needs and issues that were documented in the Compass II Survey performed by the United Way in 2006. We have sent around our survey over the last year and are now moving on to different forums for you to come and voice your opinion as well as participate in brainstorming solutions and needs in the area of Substance Abuse. We chose this topic for our first forum because it was the top issue and concern out of the 600+ surveys that were submitted by you the people of Ketchikan, Saxman and Ward Cove.

This forum will be a Community Cafe, this is a round table discussion that will rotate participants around to different tables to discuss 4 different questions throughout the evening. This event is happening on Tuesday, December 6th, 6-8pm at the Ted Ferry Civic Center. Please consider joining us. Your opinion and ideas are important as we continue to "Partner together for a Healthy Community."

Ketchikan is a wonderful place to live, full of caring people and full of wildlife and beautiful scenery, but we have issues in our community that need to be brought out into the open and addressed. We as a community working together can create a more safe and healthy community to live and raise our children in.

KWC is your community coalition, volunteers serving together to enhance all the great things in our community and we are looking to grow and you are that growth so please consider getting involved with one or more of our seven taskforces.

Lisa Scarborough,
KWC Treasurer & Taskforce Leader
