RE: One-sided Report On Timber Transition By Karen Bradley December 09, 2013
Shame on Geos, for trying to hoodwink the public with fantasy data and the lure of the "new fad" of biomass as the new 'forest industry'. Biomass fuel conversion, or even just pellet production, could certainly be a valid side-industry for timber production, but it is shameful to waste all the good, beautiful, valuable timber in the Tongass and not build houses and furniture and musical instruments from it, and instead, to rape the forests of Borneo or China for flooring material, bamboo, and teak, with no sustainable forestry safeguards. Karen Bradley About: "Married to the Timber Management Officer (TMO) for Ketchikan-Misty-Fjords USFS, who has been trying like heck to get some Timber Harvest Plans completed & approved in this district, against entrenched resistance from USFS staff with no background in Forestry Science. Me: I'm from CA, and worked for a community FireSafe Council for 4 years, to advocate thinning to reduce wildfire threats in our local forest landscape."
