DEAR CRABBY, It is a good possibility that our family might be moving to Ketchikan, Alaska in the next year. I have been trying to find out more about the town and the social atmosphere. We just had our first child six months ago, and I am a stay at home mom. Are there any sources or links you could provide me with to mom groups in Ketchikan? Thanks for your help, Elissa
DEAR ELISSA, I'm sorry I didn't answer you right away. We do have a busy social atmosphere here, and yes, we moms are busy. I must admit too, I'm slightly curious as to who steered you towards me for this answer. I am flattered. There are several "mom groups" here, and as I have many children, I sometimes spend a great deal of time at them. It is stress - reducing to have such 'support', and the good news is, there are choices according to your own personal interests. The bad news is, I often awake with a severe headache, as I tend to stay too long at our 'groups'. I like music, so I like to go where we won't be bored. I have also noted that many places are not strictly for moms. Probably the best known for doing good works- that is, raising money for children in need, is KJ's. Right now they have a warm winter coat drive going on, and have regular 'Sing-A-Longs'. Check it out when you arrive. Hope this helps.
