Candidate Statement:
I am running for reelection to the Ketchikan City Council. I have been fortunate to serve as an elected official on the School Board for one three year term (2006-09) and on the City Council since 2009. I have enjoyed representing the community the last seven years and hope to for another three.
I believe in stable government and have worked to demonstrate that for the past four years. Stability of government presents itself in many ways: making consistent decisions, being fiscally sound, and creating viable long term infrastructure plans that look to our future, not our past.
This approach is one I believe we strive for in everyday life. We all wish to be consistent at home and at work. We all wish to be financially secure and sound. We all want to have plans for building or maintaining our homes, cars and boats. I know my family works better when these three are in place, and I know our government does too.
My wife, Nicolle, and I were both raised in Ketchikan and made the decision to raise our children, Maggie and Toly, here. We did so remembering Ketchikan’s vibrant past and knowing the benefits of a childhood in Ketchikan. I want our children to have the opportunity to make the same decision when they decide to have a family. This will only be possible if we plan for the future in a fiscally and realistic manner now. I believe in and have worked for this over the last four years. I would appreciate your vote on October 1st.
