Ketchikan Borough Election
|
I am not the traditional type of candidate. I ran in 2015 and received about 350 votes, and in 2016, I garnered 565 votes. I wasn’t shocked when the City decided to overlook me when choosing a person for the open seat - but I was surprised they would ignore the people who took the time to go out and vote for me. I am running again to give another opportunity to these voters to be heard and choose a different kind of candidate. I’m not a political candidate - as my focus is in business.
I will make my goals short and to the point. My goal is to make Ketchikan a better place by making the people of Ketchikan more wealthy. When I came to this town in 1997, the pulp mill was wrapping up and many people were displaced and unsure of their livelihoods. The cruise industry was new and the apparent industry leader. I’ve watched the industry for 20 years and played in the machine for 7. I have learned a lot about the industry and how to better capitalize on building jobs and increasing revenue & wealth for the Ketchikan population. It is my belief that the local population should be more adequately compensated for our role in this industry. It will be up to us to figure out how to generate that revenue. I believe I can accomplish these goals with a seat on the Ketchikan City Council.
I only make 2 promises:
1. I will work harder than you have ever seen any other member work
2. To spend your money like it was mine.
In an effort to give more information about myself, please visit my Spencer For Ketchikan City Council Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/spencerforhigher/.
If I have given you any value, please consider me for a vote on October 2nd!
Thank you.
