Ketchikan, Alaska - Among the many people enjoying the food,
music and social festivities of the "Warming of the Hands"
dinner at the Ted Ferry Civic Center Monday evening were Master
Carvers Nathan Jackson of Ketchikan and Fujito Takeki from Japan.
One purpose of the dinner was to welcome the carvers.

Approximately 100 carvers are expected to participate in the
Gathering of the Carvers that is being held in Ketchikan this
week. The carvers will be carving at the University's Robinson
Building Monday - Friday.

Nyna Fleury was instrumental
in bringing the Gathering of the Carvers project together. During
the evening, Fleury smiled as the event was referred to as the
"First Annual Gathering of the Carvers."
