THC's Holiday Party Attended
by Over 120 Kids and... Santa!

Ketchikan, Alaska - The Totem Heritage Center's annual Holiday
party for pre-schoolers and day-care kids took place on Tuesday,
December 9, with more than 120 kids participating. Margaret
Bolton and Martha Denny, cultural instructors for the KIC Jonson
O'Malley Program, told traditional Native stories and led the
children in singing holiday songs in the Tsimshian and Tlingit
languages. The kids also had a special visit from Santa Claus
(Hunter Davis) and his helper elf (Chris Hanson), who handed
out goodie bags to each of the little guests.
Margaret Bolton sings
a song in Tsimshian to a group of preschoolers from Ketchikan
Head Start, First Lutheran Preschool, White Cliff Preschool,
and Pooh Bear Day Care.
Martha Denny sings
a song in Tlingit to preschoolers from Holy Name Preschool and
Ketchikan Head Start.
Excitement rises as
Santa Claus makes his entrance.
Children wait patiently
in line to have their chance to share a moment with Santa.
