Ketchikan, Alaska - This deer found sunny Tuesday a great day
for a swim. The thick-diameter guard fur of the Sitka deer is
well adapted to our rainy climate and these deer must enjoy the
water as they are often photographed while swimming.
These Sitka Black-tailed deer
inhabit the coastal rainforests of Southeast Alaska and the north-coastal
lands of British Columbia. They can be migratory and resident.
