Onboard With IFA; Second Ferry Plans Underway - The Inter-Island
Ferry Authority announced Friday approval of a contract with
Loren Gerhard, former executive director of the Southeast Conference,
to be in charge of design and construction of their new ferry
for the Northern Route, the M/V STIKINE. Gerhard will be responsible
for implementing the development plan, including vessel construction,
and coordinating IFA interests in terminal development at Coffman
Cove, Wrangell and South Mitkof, near Petersburg. - Read

Sends Comments, Recommendations to USDA on Country of Origin
Labeling Rule - In a letter to the USDA Agricultural Marketing
Service, Governor Frank H. Murkowski has provided the State of
Alaska's position and recommendations on a proposed rule that
would require country of origin labeling (COOL) for, among other
