Revives Tradition of Hunting Seals - A local man has revived
a Native tradition of hunting seals. Don Beck, a Haida Native,
was visited recently while cleaning several seal skins at a Ketchikan
home. Beck, born and raised in Ketchikan, has enjoyed practicing
his traditional right to subsistence harvest from the local seal

Alaska: Investigation
of the LeConte Grounding Continues; Preliminary findings released
- After more than 8 days of intensive investigation, preliminary
findings were released by the USCG Tuesday. The Coast Guard is
reviewing crew and passengers statements, along with other information
collected during the investigation into the grounding of the
LeConte on 10 May 2004. According to the USCG investigation is

the results of its high fundraiser contest Tuesday from this
year's Bowl For Kids' Sake, held in both Juneau and Ketchikan.

Council Strides Forward to Action -
The 22-member Alaska-Alberta
Bilateral council is making great progress toward the future
after just one day of talks, according to Alaska Attorney General
Gregg Renkes. The council announced it supports the corridor
concept, or building the proposed natural gas pipeline, connecting
the Alaska and Canada rail systems, and laying a fiber optic
communication line at the same time within the same corridor.
