Exports Show Phenomenal Growth - In the first three months
of 2004, sales of Alaska products to the rest of the world grew
by 23% or $147 million more than the same period last year. This
is "phenomenal growth," according to Alaska Governor
Frank H. Murkowski, and "well above the excellent year-end
results of 2003, when exports climbed 9% over 2002 figures to
finish the year at $2.7 billion." - Read

Alaska: Compliance
check operations plug holes that supply alcohol to minors
- On Friday May 28, 2004 and Saturday May 29, 2004, the Alaska
Alcoholic Beverage Control Board investigators conducted twenty-one
underage/undercover compliance checks in Juneau. The compliance
checks were conducted Friday night and late Saturday afternoon.
The operation was run by an ABC investigator from Anchorage and

Highway is expecting to receive a cost estimate for repairs on
the state ferry LeConte as early as Wednesday. Meanwhile, the
Captain and First Mate in charge of the LeConte when it hit Cozian
Reef north of Sitka on May 10th have been suspended from the
Marine Highway System and could lose their Coast Guard licenses.
