War in Iraq Claims An Alaskan Serviceman; Two Others Wounded - Alaska
Governor Frank H. Murkowski expressed sadness in learning the
news Tuesday that the war in Iraq has claimed an Alaskan serviceman
and that two other Alaskan servicemen were wounded. The governor
offered his prayers for the servicemen and their families.
"My heart goes out to
the family of Airman 1st Class Carl Anderson, Jr., who lost his
life on Sunday fighting in the service of freedom for the Iraqi
people. My prayers are with the family of Airman Anderson and
with those of Staff Sgt. Michael Helmick and Airman 1st Class
Jacob Sutton who were wounded in the service of their country."

evidence that Alaska fish are healthy to eat - Latest results
from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC)
Fish Monitoring Program show low levels of persistent organic
pollutants (PCBs, dioxins, organochlorine pesticides) in Alaska
fish. The results reinforce earlier findings that Alaska's fish
are among the safest in the nation for consumption.- More...

Health Training Institute Scheduled for September - The Alaska
Department of Health and Social Services Division of Public Health
will conduct its 2004 Alaska Public Health Training Institute
on September 28-30 at the BP Energy Center at 900 E. Benson Blvd
in Anchorage. The Institute is held in partnership with the Alaska
Public Health Association and the Northwest Center for Public

announced Tuesday between securities regulators and Deutsche
Bank Securities Inc. and Thomas Weisel Partners LLC, Alaska stands
