Alaska Marine Highway System is reviewing a proposal to move
its administrative operations from Juneau to Ketchikan, but state
Department of Transportation Deputy Commissioner Tom Briggs said
the analysis is "very preliminary." -

Declares Alaska Influenza Vaccination Week; Flu shots encouraged
for seniors, children, and others concerned about influenza
- Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski on Monday released an executive
proclamation declaring October 20-24, 2003 as Influenza Vaccination
Week in Alaska. The proclamation comes at the height of the influenza
vaccination season and encourages everyone in Alaska to get a

District updates Anan Wildlife Observatory rules - The Forest
Service's Wrangell Ranger District will implement a limited day-use
permit system and new viewing hours for the Anan Wildlife Observatory

Named KGH Employee Of the Month - Rita Cruz, a 28 year employee
of Ketchikan General Hospital, has been named Employee of the
Month for October by a committee of her co-workers. Cruz has
worked her entire tenure at KGH as a laundry attendant, a job
which includes washing, drying, folding the linens, and stocking
all patient care areas with clean linens daily. She also cares
for the personal linens belonging to the residents of long-term

Native artists and markets their work. Sealaska Heritage Institute
